Introducing Colin Beames

Hi, I’m Colin Beames, founder and Managing Director of Advanced Workforce Strategies. 

My background is originally that of a civil engineer (i.e., my first career) having held senior management roles in the concrete, quarrying and mining industries.

Now in my second career as a business-focused psychologist, I am an author, consultant and coach, being recognised as global thought leader in human capital and strategic workforce planning (SWP), with a deep and expansive knowledge of these subjects.

Ps. I went back to university in my early 40’s to complete a BA with my 4th year honour’s thesis on the subject of mid-life career change, so I have some personal experience with transitions!

In the area of SWP, I have developed, adapted, integrated and applied various human capital models and tools, (including the AWS Skills-Based Workforce Segmentation Model and mapping tool which is the “jewel in the crown”).

I have presented SWP workshops internationally (including the UK, South Africa, South-East Asia, New Zealand), as well as throughout Australia. Also I’ve consulted to organisations both in the public and private sectors in Australia and internationally, and have written and published three books, the latest entitled “How to Manage Your Workforce in the Digital Age”.
